Initially, he embarked on his college journey as a microbiology major. However, a late change in his academic career was prompted by his growing passion for natural resources and their future, leading him to discover his calling in the Warner College of Natural Resources.
Before his time at CSU, his connection to the university was already deeply rooted in his family history. His great-grandfather served as an assistant professor at CSU when it was known as Colorado A&M. His parents, who met at CSU while living in Braiden Hall, fostered a familial bond with the university despite moving.
