Schools districts across the Charlotte region are announcing schedule changes in preparation for winter weather Friday and Saturday.
A winter storm watch is in effect for counties across the Carolinas. Up to 5 inches of snow is expected across the mountains and north of the Interstate 40 corridor in the Piedmont. A wintry mix is expected across the rest of the area, with up to 2 inches of combined ice and snow. Locally higher amounts are possible.
