CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If your New Year’s Eve celebrations in Charlotte include some drinking, a personal injury law firm is offering to repay you for a safe ride home via Uber or Lyft or cab.
Mehta and McConnell has announced its free holiday ride program to ensure people celebrating the new year in the Queen City don’t drink and drive. The firm cites data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that found more than 3,800 deadly car crashes involving drunk drivers in North Carolina happened between 2010 through 2019 as its reason for offering the reimbursement program.
If you take an Uber, Lyft or cab ride home between 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day, you can send Mehta and McConnell a receipt for reimbursement. The firm says they’ll repay you for rides up to $25, including a 10% tip to your driver.
