Crash takes down pole, leaves 400+ without power in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A car crashed into a pole Thursday morning, knocking out power lines and leaving hundreds in the dark in south Charlotte.

An SUV hit a pole at around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 on Selwyn Avenue near Hillside Avenue in the Myers Park neighborhood. The crash took out power lines for the area, initially leaving more than 400 customers without power for hours.

By 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, however, power had been restored to most Duke Energy customers in the area. Officials said that customers had been “switched to another feed,” and that there were only three customers without power, as of 11:30 a.m…
