Tropical Storm Kirk forms in the Atlantic; depression could form in the Gulf this week

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking team is keeping track of several features in the tropics.

On Monday, Tropical Storm Kirk formed in the far eastern Atlantic and is forecast to become a major hurricane this weekend.

Because of its location and movement, Kirk doesn’t appear to be a threat to any areas of land, at least through the next five days.
