Despite getting pelted with rain, putters heat up at Senior City; Derek Schneider leads at 2 under

Rain peppered Chestnut Hills Golf Club throughout Sunday – even forcing players off the course for about 45 minutes – and it sure seemed to be unideal putting conditions for the 45 competitors in the Senior City Championship.

But that wasn’t the case for those atop the leader board, who shrugged off Mother Nature, adapted to their rain gear and sent putt after putt into the centers of the holes.

“The greens were great,” said Derek Schneider, who posted a 2-under 70 and has a two-stroke lead over Kip Barker and Chris Schweitzer heading into today’s final round. “The greens rolled really well. They’ve just got small, subtle breaks to them and once you get used to that, and play it just inside the hole, then you’re going to make some putts.”…
