Pregame: TinCaps (30-44, 2-6 second half) vs. Dayton Dragons (39-35, 5-3)

The TinCaps are trying to salvage one victory from their six-game series against Dayton this week.

Fort Wayne has dropped each of the first five games, most recently a 3-0 shutout defeat Saturday night in which it had only two hits, no extra-base hits and one walk. That offensive performance spoiled an excellent start from right-hander Dylan Lesko, who went 5 2/3 innings and gave up only four hits while equaling a career-high with nine strikeouts.

Lesko’s was the latest in a string of stellar starting pitching performances from the TinCaps. Henry Baez, Sam Whiting and Jagger Haynes each pitched well enough to win this week – that trio plus Lesko has posted a 1.27 ERA in Fort Wayne’s last four games. Unfortunately for the TinCaps, their bullpen and bats have not given those starters enough support and Dayton has won all four of those games following an 8-4 triumph in the opener Tuesday. …
