Massachusetts Braces for Frigid Winds and Freezing Temperatures to Start the Week

Boston, MA – Residents across Massachusetts are preparing for dangerously cold conditions as powerful northwest winds drop temperatures below freezing. Wind chills are expected to make it feel as low as the teens and single digits, particularly during the morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds ranging from 25 to 35 mph will persist through Monday, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. These winds will push apparent temperatures well below their forecast highs, which are set to hover around 31 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. Commuters are urged to dress in layers and limit time outdoors during the early hours of the day.

Monday will remain partly sunny, but winds will sustain speeds of 15 to 20 mph, contributing to the harsh cold. Overnight lows are forecast to dip into the teens, with the coldest wind chills occurring late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Drivers should take extra precautions, particularly on exposed roadways like I-93 and Route 128, where gusty winds may impact visibility and vehicle stability.
