Worcester plans to renovate dog park, two city playgrounds

The new year could bring improvements to a dog park and two playgrounds in Worcester.

Worcester’s Department of Public Works and Parks will go before the Conservation Commission on Dec. 30 to discuss its notices of intent to renovate the Beaver Brook Dog Park at 15 Mann St., the Lake View Playground at 125 Colburn Ave., and the Great Brook Valley Playground at 33 Northeast Cutoff, the commission’s meeting agenda reveals.

At the Beaver Brook Dog Park, the city wants to install water connections, bottle fillers, play equipment for dogs, trash receptacles and move forward with a stone resurfacing, the agenda reads.

The 17,000-square-foot dog park was opened in October 2017, according to the city’s website. The park comprises two fenced sections: one side for smaller dogs and one for larger dog breeds, the website reads. The dog park is one of three in the city, with the other two being the Vernon Hill Dog Park, located at 144 Providence St. and the Downtown Dog Park at 38 Green St., according to the city’s website…
