Blue Grass Airport begins to resume some service Monday after flights grounded for storm

Some flights are beginning to resume out of Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport after Winter Storm Blair.

Almost all flights were canceled Sunday when the storm dumped a combination of snow, ice and sleet on Central Kentucky. Many Monday morning flights were also canceled, but some airlines were beginning to resume service Monday afternoon, according to Blue Grass Airport’s website and officials.

“Our team has been working around the clock to keep our main runway operational. We have had flights arrive and depart today. At this point, cancellations are up to the airline completely and could be due to other factors — since our runway is operational,” said Lauren Simmerman, a spokeswoman for Blue Grass Airport…
