Fayette Co. Schools looking for solutions as icy weather closes classrooms

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Fayette County Public Schools remain closed for the rest of the week due to severe weather conditions, including heavy snow and icy roads that have made travel difficult.

This week, classrooms across the district have been empty, with snow plows instead of school buses filling neighborhood streets. The district reports the school closures are part of traditional snow days, not NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) days.

“We’re taking it day by day we continue to speak with the local officials as well as national weather officials,” said Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins. “Waiting to see exactly what happens what the city is able to do with the roads,” added Liggins…
