SHREWSBURY — In a setting that was better fitted for the day before Thanksgiving, or maybe during the first few weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the shelves at the Stop & Shop located on Route 9 were almost bare on Thursday afternoon.
The reason for depleted inventory: it was the final day for the store. The Shrewsbury location was on the list of seven Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts set to close at the end of October, a list that also included the location at 545 Lincoln St. in Worcester.
