Emergency room doctors concerned at rise in pedestrian crashes due to time change

“This is a little atypical, very alarming.” said Dr. Charles Adams, Chief of trauma at Rhode Island Hospital, now part of Brown University Health.

“A lot of times the pedestrians struck actually increase when the clocks change and the clocks haven’t changed yet, and we’ve seen an uptick so we’re kind of worried there’s going to be an even worse problem if we don’t make some changes,” said Adams.

In just October, he is reporting a 15% increase in the number of pedestrians hit by a car that require ICU level care at our area’s only level one trauma center…
