Fire warning affecting 12 Massachusetts counties Saturday

On Friday at 6:56 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning valid for Saturday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Northern Worcester and Southern Worcester as well as Franklin, Middlesex, Essex, Hampshire, Hampden, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties.

Expect winds to be west 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 40 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” comments the weather service.
