MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) – It’s still a little early to know exactly what we’ll see when the winter weather system moves into the DMV early next week. Montgomery County officials and businesses, including a hardware store, are making sure people are ready no matter what.
County transportation leaders are preparing for any ice and snow that the weather system may bring with it.
“We have about 16,000 tons of salt,” Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) chief of highway services Richard Dorsey said. “We also utilize salt brine, and we have about 100,000 gallons.”

Experts say the weather system may arrive in the DMV Sunday night and continue into Monday. MCDOT plans to pretreat roads with the salt and brine starting Saturday…
