FREDERICK, Md. — The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has released bodycam footage of a deputy-involved shooting that occurred in August of last year at a Super 8 Motel on Monocacy Boulevard. The footage provides a look into the events leading up to the shooting of a 45-year-old man wanted on felony charges of child sexual assault and abuse out of Pennsylvania.
The incident began late on August 1, 2024, when deputies located the suspect’s car at the motel and confirmed he was registered there. Officers, including Corporal Alex Mendez of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Connor Walsleben of the Frederick City Police Department, made contact with the man through the door of his room.
In the video, deputies can be heard attempting to negotiate with the man, urging him to come out peacefully. The man, however, refused, repeatedly stating that he was armed and would not surrender…
