Illinois Man Fatally Injured in Snowmobile Accident in Northern Michigan, Female Companion Hurt

An Illinois man was killed and a woman seriously injured after their snowmobile hit a powerline structure in Northern Michigan. The crash happened near the Rasho Road Trailhead in East Bay Township just before 2 p.m. last Sunday, according to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office.

A 32-year-old male passenger and a 30-year-old female driver, both from Illinois, were involved in a crash while riding a 2024 Polaris two-person snowmobile. The crash occurred when they hit an iron structure. Deputies found the riders with serious injuries, despite wearing helmets.
