Trick or treating, candy eating coming soon

Port Clinton Candy Company owners, Lisa and Joe Kuzma, spent countless minutes filling 1,000 plastic eggs with candy for the Halloween egg hunt at the 2nd Annual Pumpkins in the Park at Lakeview Park on Oct. 13.

“They were gone in two minutes,” Lisa said. “We’ll have to make a lot more next year.”

Although the egg hunt ended quickly, the fun lasted all afternoon. The Kuzmas transformed this year’s Pumpkins in the Park into an all-day family fun day that included pumpkin painting, craft and merchandise vendors, live music, raffles and food trucks. Outdoor games included a giant Connect Four board and pumpkin tic tac toe.

“The only thing the same from last year is the painting of pumpkins,” Lisa said.

The event served as a fundraiser for Island Safe House Animal Shelter, Champions for Children, and Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The Kuzmas are avid supporters of the aquarium, which suffered extension damage from Hurricane Helene…
