YORK, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Residents in the York County will no longer have curbside recycling services.
The city of York announced Monday the discontinuation of the services comes “after careful consideration” of its sustainability.

City leaders cite rising processing costs and low participation rates. Despite efforts to adjust to these changes, the cost of continuing curbside recycling has become economically unviable.
“After considering all available options, we have made the difficult decision to end curbside recycling services,” said York Public Works Director Chris Wallace. “We recognize the importance of recycling to our residents and the environment, but we also have a responsibility to manage taxpayer funds wisely.”…
