LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona visited Five Forks Middle School in Lawrenceville on Thursday.

He spoke with 7th-grade students and led a roundtable discussion with students, teachers, administrators, and social workers from the district.

“Students are six times more likely to get mental health support in our school when they’re offered in our schools than they’re going to get in the community. It’s really important that schools remain the hub, but we can’t keep asking our teachers to do more with less, which is what we’ve done historically in education. But we put a stop to that.
