CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 21, 2024) – On Saturday, the No. 21 Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team hosted Union College for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up where the Lady Bears recorded a 5-0 shutout victory over the Bulldogs. TMU rises to a record of 5-1-2, 4-0-1 AAC, while Union falls to a record of 3-3-1, 2-3-0 AAC.

First half action began with a shot on goal by Eliska Dvorakova. A foul in the opposing teams box ultimately led to the Lady Bears first goal of the day, with a good penalty kick by Ashley Johnson (1-0). TMU kept the momentum rolling taking eight more shots, when finally, in the 27th minute, a good corner kick by Ruffa Meger put Dvorakova in position to score, 2-0. In the second half, the Lady Bears did let up, taking every opportunity available when a good ball down the left side by Johnson found the foot of Brianna Hernandez to score TMU’s third goal (3-0). Lindsey Fowler joined the action in the 60th minute scoring a goal of her own with an assist by Ella Weir (4-0). Annabel Trauschke capped off the Lady Bears win with two more goals (Marisol Esparza, Megan Darden) securing the shut-out win, 6-0.
