Woman found after East Long Beach brush fire had been shot in the head, medical examiner says

A woman whose body was found after a brush fire in East Long Beach earlier this month had been shot in the head, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The body of 35-year-old Charlene Matson was found in a field near the area of Second Street and the San Gabriel River after firefighters extinguished a brush fire the morning of Sunday, Dec. 8, according to authorities.

The Long Beach Police Department said it appeared she had been killed but details as to the cause of her death were not available…
