CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Black Notes Project is an indoor music festival and nonprofit with the mission of celebrating and amplifying Black American music. This year’s theme is Jazz and they have three ticketed concerts: a jazz celebration of Prince on Friday night hosted by his former wife and muse Mayte Garcia; a Saturday day concert with the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra and Opera Carolina soloist Reece Garrison; and Saturday evening’s “Evolution of Jazz” featuring Sainted Trap Choir and Trap Jazz.
Their programming, which kicked off last Sunday at Lorem Ipsum Listening Bar features a mix of engagement opportunities, including a film screening on Sunday 1/26 at The Mint Museum Uptown.
They are most proud of their collaboration with six of Charlotte’s major cultural institutions: Blumenthal, The Gantt Center, The Bechtler, The Mint Museum, The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and now Opera Carolina.
