Last fall, Dylan Emory and Megan Murphy launched the Broad River Community Market in Shelby based on the belief that everyone deserves fresh food, and since then have given away hundreds of pounds of groceries and produce.
This year, they have plans to expand and want to impact more than 4,000 local households.
After a fundraising dinner in December at Newgrass Brewing Co., they are leasing a plot of land at Old North Farm and plan to grow their own produce to distribute in addition to purchasing from local farmers…
