‘He had enough’ | Beaver dies weeks after being rescued, Charlotte conservation group says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A beaver who was nursed back to health after almost drowning earlier this month has sadly passed away.

The Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center shared the news Friday about the death of Auggie the beaver. Auggie was rescued earlier in the month after he was found face-down in a Charlotte pond and suffering from hypothermia. The center said when he was found, he was also facing multiple infected wounds, and unable to swim or even walk properly.

Center staff said at the time Auggie was found on Jan. 1, his temperature was so low it was untraceable on a digital thermometer. He required daily treatment for his wounds. The center also said he should have still been with his beaver family unit…
