ELMIRA, N.Y. — Chambersburg ventured to Elmira, N.Y. over the weekend to compete in the 30-team Southern Tier Memorial Tournament, and brought some hardware home.
The Trojans took first place in the team standings, outlasting Bellefonte by 3.5 points. Chambersburg produced a pair of champions — Zach Sherman at 124 pounds and Frank Barrientos at 285 — and 5 other place-winners.
After leading the team race all weekend, the Trojans were passed by Bellefonte after the 190 bouts and trailed by 2.5 points. But Barrientos won to add 3 points with his win and another 3 for the pin to lift Chambersburg to the championship…
