SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Santa Cruz police report a rise in theft and vandalism of B-Cycle bikes over the past few weeks.
“We see bikes that are mostly turning up outside of areas that we have docks, many in the Harbor West area, in park areas and areas that are kind of outside of normal visibility,” Claire Gallogly with the City of Santa Cruz said. “We have upwards of 100 bikes that are out in the wild right now that are unaccounted for and being, you know, in the process of recovery.”
Police say individuals are forcibly removing the bikes from their docking stations, causing substantial damage, and then abandoning them in various locations…
