South Coast Air Quality District Issues No-Burn Day Alert Due to Pollution in Southern California

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has issued a No-Burn Day alert for Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, banning residential wood burning in the South Coast Air Basin. This measure comes as high levels of air pollution are expected, prompting action to protect public health.

The ban, effective from midnight until 11:59 p.m. Friday, applies to residents across Orange County and the non-desert regions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. However, certain exemptions exist for areas like mountain communities above 3,000 feet, the Coachella Valley, and the High Desert. Homes relying solely on wood for heating or low-income households without natural gas service are also exempt.
