Hunt High completed a perfect run through the 3-A Quad County Conference to reign as junior varsity football champion with a 42-36 overtime win at Fike in the season finale Oct. 31.
The Warriors finished 6-0 in QCC games and 8-2 overall, ending on a seven-game winning streak. Hunt’s two losses were back-to-back setbacks to Ayden-Grifton and D.H. Conley by four points combined before running the table in the Quad County, outscoring their foes 271-88.
“No one wakes up in the morning and tells themselves I want to lose,” said Hunt head coach Billy Woodard. “So, during the preseason and season, the message was to get better daily. There wasn’t a lot of emphasis on winning because winning will come as the team gets better day by day.”…
