RODANTHE, N.C. (WNCN) – Water officials are urging people to stay away from the ocean near the North Carolina coast after an onslaught of storms has caused a pair of homes to collapse over 24 hours in the Outer Banks.
According to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the National Park Service received a dispatch call at around 9:18 p.m. Friday from Dare County regarding a house collapse at 23009 G A Kohler Court in Rodanthe.
Law enforcement rangers arrived on scene and confirmed the unoccupied, one-story house had “collapsed and apparently washed out into the ocean before the bulk of it returned to the beach,” Seashore officials said.
