Injury bug bites Cards: WR Johnson out, CB Riley doubtful for Notre Dame

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) – Facing a top-20 team bent on revenge in a soldout stadium of 77,000 isn’t the only adversity Louisville’s 15th-ranked football team will face Saturday afternoon against No. 16 Notre Dame (2-1) in South Bend.

The Cardinals (3-0) will also be without one of their best players on both sides of the ball.

During his weekly media conference Monday, Cards coach Jeff Brohm revealed that wide receiver Jadon Thompson will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury suffered in Saturday’s 31-19 win over Georgia Tech. Quincy Riley, the team’s top cornerback, is also hurt and Brohm described his availability as a game-time decision. And special teams player Dakardrien Saunders is out for the year with a knee injury. That’s on top of starting running back Maurice Turner, who is possibly sidelined for two or three with a high ankle sprain.
