Cheerleaders Report Alleged Punishment For Action During Football Game

Per EverythingLubbock, Cheerleaders in eighth grade at Evans Middle School were reportedly harmed following the purported actions of their coach. Thirteen of the girls received burns that were first and second degree. This began after, according to the news organization, the girls did a cheer that the coach didn’t approve of.

At a practice following the performance of the cheer, the coach reprimanded the girls, and allegedly disciplined them by ordering “bear crawls” and “crab walks” to be performed on the outdoor track. This resulted in the burns that girls suffered from, with one having to go to the University Medical Center burn unit tp be examined.

Parents Express Anger, Lubbock ISD Releases Statement

According to EverythingLubbock, parents of the girls were not happy after finding out their children were harmed. One anonymous parent told the news organization that “It was malicious. It was intentional.” Lubbock ISD also released a statement about the situation, which part of it can be read here:

“…We are heartbroken over these events, as the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. This type of incident does not reflect the standards or values of Lubbock ISD and Evans Middle School. We are addressing this matter with utmost urgency, and are fully committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The teacher involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation…
