CCT to Perform “The Glass Menagerie” October 10-13.

Crookston Community Theatre will perform The Glass Menagerie at the Polk County Museum in Crookston on October 10, 11, 12, and 13. The performances will be at 7:30 each night, and tickets are available online. Seating is limited, as the theatre is small, so it is a good idea to get online soon to ensure you have seats for this classic Tennessee Williams Play.

We were given a short summary of the play by Beth Carlson, who plays the mother (Amanda)  in the production. “It’s a very classic tale which only includes four people, The Mother (Amanda), The Daughter(Laura), who has a little bit of a disability, the Son(Tom), who is the narrator who then comes into the story, and a Gentleman Caller (Jim O’Connor).” The story is about Amanda trying to get her daughter, who is somewhat disabled and very, very shy, married.

Carlson says it’s very relatable because it’s a story about family.  “Even though it’s set pre-war, 30’s, the things they are dealing with are family things,” says Carlson. “You are going to find yourself going, oh, that mother is crazy, but I kind of feel her pain.”
