GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Our local Red Cross is stepping in to help with the wildfires in California and other weather situations across the nation.
The American Red Cross provides help during times of natural disasters, but they can’t do it alone. Due to increased weather in parts of the country recently, some blood drives in those areas had to be canceled, which means there is an increased need for blood donations.
Christie Caster of the American Red Cross said, “The Red Cross does collect blood on an ongoing basis, but obviously right now it’s very needed, especially because of the wildfires in California. And we’ve actually had inclement weather in all parts of the country, and we’ve had to cancel blood drives. So it is very important to give blood.”…
