GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) — For over 95 years, the Grand Junction Lions Club has provided $8 million in charitable grants and donations to nonprofit organizations throughout Mesa County. This year, they are giving $150,000 in grant donations.
On Monday, the Lion’s Club announced this year’s grant beneficiaries. They are listed below:
- Marillac Health – $25,000 for new healthcare center
- Museums of Western Colorado – $30,000 for new exhibit hall
- Colorado Discover Ability – $25,000 for an adventure van
- Community Food Bank of GJ – $10,000 for 7th Street Community Cafe
- Redlands Middle School – $9,450 for Aquos smart board TVs
- Broadway Elementary School – $7,500 for playground with triple shootout
- Grand Valley Equine Assisted Learning – $8,500 for door system for arena
- Grand Mesa Little League – $7,500 for new playground and fencing
- HopeWest – $6,000 remodel for the Art and Sand Therapy room
- Sleep in Heavenly Peace – $5,000 materials for bed construction project
- Eureka McConnell Science – $5,000 tow-behind cargo trailer
- Grand Mesa Nordic Council – $5,000 Skyway building project
- Lower Valley Hospital FHW $2,200 purchasing AED unit for FMHS Athletics
- D51 Foundation – $3,850 for Numworks set of calculators for FMHS, PHS, CHS and R-5 students
The club’s 96th annual carnival proceeds will pay for these grants, and after a successful outing on Feb. 15, funds will begin being distributed and will continue through September.
