GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ( KREX ) – A Grand Junction principal was recently announced as one of nine educators to win a national award – and the only one from Colorado.
Mesa View Elementary Principal Stacey Cohen was named Wednesday as a recipient of the 2024 Terrel H. Bell Awards for Outstanding School Leadership from the U.S. Secretary of Education. The Bell Award – which is part of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program – is given out to principals who are “committed to education as a powerful and liberating force in people’s lives,” according to the U.S. Secretary of Education.
“Principal Cohen’s recognition as a Bell Award recipient is a tremendous and well-earned honor,” District 51 Superintendent Brian Hill said in a press release. “Her leadership, passion and unwavering belief in the potential of every student have truly transformed Mesa View Elementary, inspiring both students and staff alike. Principal Cohen’s dedication to fostering a school culture where all students can thrive speaks volumes about her commitment to excellence in education.
