Dallas mayor sports his ‘TCU Sucks’ shirt at Wednesday city council meeting

Dallas mayor Eric Johnson is getting in the spirit for Saturday’s Battle of the Iron Skillet in North Texas.

Mayor Johnson sported a ” TCU Sucks ,” shirt to Wednesday’s Dallas City Council briefing, showing his bias ahead of the historic rivalry between SMU and Texas Christian this Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. This weekend’s matchup marks the last time the rivalry will be played in Dallas, as the teams will only meet one more time in Fort Worth next year. Johnson also declared this to be “Iron Skillet Week” in the leadup to the game.

TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati announced last September that it was in the program’s “best interest” to pause the rivalry after the contract between the schools expires in 2025. The goal for TCU is to secure more home games, as it sacrifices one every other year just to drive across the metroplex. The two teams have met 102 times dating back to 1915, skipping only the 1919, 1920, 1925, 1987, 1988, 2006 and 2020 seasons…
