Jordan Phillips casts doubt about IR designation as Cowboys injuries continue to pile on

A rough start to the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season has spread into the medical tent, with the reigning NFC East champions placing defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on the injured reserve list Wednesday morning with a wrist injury.

Phillips marks another blow to Dallas’ deteriorating crop of linemen, with six players on the offense and defensive fronts now expected to miss at least the next four weeks.

The 6’6, 330-pound behemoth sparked some speculation about the accuracy of these injury claims later on Wednesday, however, saying the following when asked how he sustained the injury: “I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade. You have to ask the people making the decisions.” Phillips added that his wrist was “fine” and was visibly frustrated leaving the Cowboys locker room Wednesday.

The 31-year-old journeyman was limited to just 19 snaps against the Saints in Week 2, widely criticized for his poor conditioning and ineffectiveness against New Orleans’ rushing attack. Phillips has earned just a 29.2 PFF grade through the Cowboys’ first two weeks, among the lower marks in the NFL, after joining Dallas this offseason…
