Grandville Public Schools closed Thursday for threat

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grandville Public Schools will be closed Thursday after receiving word about an alleged threat, the district wrote in a letter to parents.

The tip came from OK2SAY , a tipline program run by Michigan State Police where anyone can confidentially report threats, violent behavior and mental health crises involving students, school employees or schools.

OK2SAY saw 31% increase in reporting in 2023

“We will not be able to conduct a thorough enough investigation by tomorrow morning.  So, out of an abundance of caution, Grandville Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, September 19 including Preschool and Treehouse programs,” Grandville Superintendent Roger Bearup wrote in a letter to families.

As for evening activities, GPS said it will let families know whether or not they will continue once it has more information…
