The Nevada Union Miners boys basketball team (10-4) opened the 82nd annual Kendall Arnett Tournament at Placer High School against the Foothill Cougars (8-5). The Miners started strong and managed to hang on for a 63-60 victory.
The Miners jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead before a Cougars timeout. Nevada Union went on to outscore Foothill 8-2 to take a 20-4 lead into the second quarter. Jordan Hood and Mark Williams led the Miners in scoring in the first quarter with six points. Jonah Beck added five points. Foothill got their offense going in the second quarter, scoring 21 points, but the Miners scored 23. Williams had nine points in the quarter, with a 43-25 lead into halftime…
