Arctic blast will bring the region bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills through Monday

MONTANA – Very cold arctic air will stick with us through the weekend, with daytime highs in the single digits and teens ABOVE zero, overnight lows in the single digits and teens BELOW zero, and wind chills set to range between 15 and 40 BELOW zero. The coldest temperatures expected in the eastern plains. At temperatures this low, frostbite and hypothermia can develop very quickly, and natural improvements of snow and ice on the roadways will be delayed.

Occasional light snow, with areas of blowing snow, will continue tonight and into Sunday. Greatest amounts of snow accumulation will be along the north facing slopes of the Beartooth, Pryor, and Bighorn Mountains, with 3 to 5 inches expected. Temperatures are expected to rise back into the 20s and 30s by Tuesday afternoon, lasting through the week…
