First Alert Weather Day for the Northern Hills and Wyoming this Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) –

A first alert weather day has been issued for parts of KOTA Territory. The Northern Hills, much of NE Wyoming, including Sheridan and Gillette, and SE Montana are all included in this First Alert Weather Day. Accumulating snowfall is likely this weekend for all of these areas and that could impact driving conditions and weekend plans. Snow will engulf much of KOTA Territory, with accumulations looking likely across the area. That snow continues throughout the day on Saturday where highs will be set in the morning, slightly above freezing and then drop through the remainder of the day. Winds will be gusting upwards of 50 miles per hour during the day on Saturday, which brings the possibility of single digit “feels-like temperatures” and blowing snow. Blowing snow could reduce visibility on roadways and will be impacting travel this weekend. Sunday, the snow continues around the area with additional accumulations likely. High temperatures will be in the 20s all day, supportive of the snowfall. Monday, a few lingering snow showers are possible across the area and high temperatures stay in the 20s for a second consecutive day…
