Montana fire departments send crews to LA to help fight wildfires

Multiple Montana fire departments are sending crews and engines to California to help fight four fast-moving wildfires.

The crews that shared plans to head to California include:

  • The Missoula Fire Department, which is reportedly sending a crew with a Type 3 wildland engine.
  • The Missoula Rural Fire Department, which is reportedly sending a crew with a Type 3 Wildland engine.
  • The Bigfork Fire Department, which is is reportedly sending a crew with Bigfork Engine 332.
  • The Whitefish Fire Department, which is reportedly sending a crew of four.
  • Red Lodge Fire Rescue, which is reportedly sending a crew of four with with Engine 75.
  • Columbus Fire Rescue, which will send a crew and Engine 430.
  • The Big Sky Fire Department, which is sending an engine and multiple task force leaders.
  • The Bigfork Fire Department, which is reportedly sending a crew with Engine 332.
  • The Corvallis Fire Department, which is reportedly sending a crew with Engine 12.
  • The Central Valley Fire Department, which is reportedly sending four firefighters with a structure engine.
  • The Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department, which is sending three firefighters with an engine.

The crews will reportedly work together to form two Montana task forces in efforts to help extinguish the fires in California.

At this time, Montana crews are expected to be gone for 18 days, with firefighters working 14 days and travelling for a total of four days…
