HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Hawkins County EMS announced plans Tuesday to launch a new Opioid Response Program that aims to help educate and prevent opioid use and overdose before it happens.
Deputy Chief for Hawkins County EMS Wayne Elam told News Channel 11 that the program will be a mobile unit and will help educate families on spotting potential opioid abuse as well as provide free-of-cost Narcan.
“[The] prevention period, you know, is trying to stop it before it starts or recognize it before it becomes a problem,” he said. “And that’s the major thing that was lacking. And so we will try to hit that really strong in the communities, teach people how to be aware of, you know, this what to watch for, more or less.”…
