Investigating underway after $20,000 in jewelry stolen from Newport Walmart

NEWPORT, Tenn. (WATE) — The Newport Police Department is investigating after more than $20,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from Walmart.

Officers responded to the Walmart on Cosby Highway on March 10 following a theft report. Officers spoke with a witness who said three men entered the store on March 8 around 10:51 p.m. The men broke the lock on the jewelry case and took $20,504.59 worth of jewelry.

The witness continued, saying the men left the store and got into a black car. The men then headed south on Cosby Highway, according to the police report.
