Jeremiah Cafe opens, provides jobs to people on autism spectrum

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL)—In April, Jennifer and Kevin Sweet purchased the former One Acre Cafe with the goal of creating a place of employment for people on the autism spectrum. The new space is called Jeremiah Cafe .

On Tuesday, the cafe opened its doors for a soft opening. Jennifer Sweet said she didn’t expect the cafe to be ready for business so soon.

“We were thinking, ‘Okay, we’ll teach them this job, and then it’ll be a little bit before we can do this,’” said Sweet. “We thought we’d be doing this for several weeks before we’re going to do a grand opening. But they were doing so well that they’re ready.”…
