TACN radio hailed for its crucial role for first responders during Hurricane Helene flooding

DEL RIO, Tenn. — Monday marked 6 months since Hurricane Helene flooded parts of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Homes, businesses, land and lives were lost because of the storm.

Chaos became imminent for residents and first responders, including Captain Claude Thompson with the Morristown Rescue Squad and Gary Underwood, a lieutenant with the Morristown Fire Department.

“Sheriff Ball called and said, ‘We need some help,” said Thompson. “He tells me the river has come up, houses have washed off and several people are unaccounted for.”…
