Tenaska Inc. has submitted an application to the Tennessee Valley Authority seeking to locate a proposed $350 million Battery Electricity Storage System (BESS) at Phipps Bend.
In February of 2024 Tenaska purchased an option for 30 acres at Phipps Bend to build a BESS, which would store electricity to be sold to power companies during peak usage times and outages.
