MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — While you are sleeping, meteorologists at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown are wide awake – tracking weather and sending out potentially life-saving alerts. The organization aims to prepare us for weather, water and climate-dependent events 24 hours a day.
The NWS has 122 weather forecast offices across the country with four here in Tennessee. Twenty-four people work at the local center in Morristown.
“We like to keep our eyes on the weather 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Warning Coordination Meteorologist Anthony Cavallucci explained. “Weather doesn’t care if it’s your birthday or if it’s night time or you’re asleep or you’re tired or whatever. It’s always occurring.”…
