FBI data shows violent crime up in Greensboro, down in NC overall

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Both violent and property crimes are on the decline in North Carolina, according to recently released data by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI defines “violent crimes” as murder, rape, robbery or aggravated assault. Property crimes, on the other hand, consist of arson, burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.

According to the data, there were 302,418 combined violent and property crimes reported in the state in 2014. That number dropped to 255,405 in 2023, a decrease of 15.5%…
